Can a Font Help a City?
Spotted this in Good.is. While it’s a really nice-looking project, it’s also a great example of the a ‘distributed’ approach to funding design projects. Here’s the blurb;
“Chatype (the font for the city) made its debut at an event hosted by the local creative community and quickly garnered public support. They’ve raised nearly $7,000 through Kickstarter from more than 100 backers.”
So, if your project’s flat for funds, why not consider crowd-raising to cover costs rather than crowd-sourcing an identity?
Also worth a mention here, as is the UK version Crowdfunder. I’ll look into this a little more and report back.
